Since 2010 InnovationCity Ruhr | Model City Bottrop has been developing innovative ideas and solutions as how to face the challenges of climate und structural change in an urban area. Beyond the mere concept, the "Bottrop laboratory" demonstrates how these solutions can be realised as well.
The master plan for Bottrop`s redevelopment focuses on energy efficency and renewables in both commercial and residential areas, with measures for enviromentally friendly mobility and adaption of urban space for increased quality of life for its citizens.
